Playing Every TMNT Character - Splinter

Welcome back to Undefeated at Locals for week two of Playing Every TMNT Character!

This week I played Splinter, Caring Father on the All symbol. Really the only reason I chose All over Water is we get Patchwork Baby and Big Sister of 1-B on All, most of the other cards in the list are either attuned or the infinity symbol.

This deck was a lot of fun to play even if the 22 health did make it a little difficult into the more aggressive decks I played against this week. The optimal play is to build out for a turn or two, blocking with Rising Uppercut to hopefully grab a momentum or two on their turn. Then, once we have a couple momentum we can start with High Three, into Patchwork Baby that is now a 6 mid 6 thanks to high three, by the time we are done using all of patchworks enhances and depending on our opponents board state we can make it either a 12/13 if we use both EX and Powerful once, or we can pump both momentum into powerful making for a 9/16. Followed by Off the Wall Kick on a just a 5, then Splinter enhance to make it a 6/6 with High Three in the cardpool.

Splinter’s abilities are really interesting, in my games his top enhance didn’t do as much defensively as I had hoped, the one time I got to block a move with High Three and then Block the next with Rising Uppercut, respond to play it on their turn, and make it a 6/6 was really cool but that only worked out the one time. I really like the second ability, being able to ready 2 defensive foundations with commit costs like Big Sister of 1-B and Moment Of Normalcy feels good and limiting it to “Rivals Turn” stops it from feeling broken.

In round 1 I played against Edgar on Leatherhead and got absolutely destroyed 0-2 in less than 20 minutes, it is hard to block more than one move when your cardpool is getting stuffed with 1-2 cards per opponent attack. Round 2 was a bye round. Round 3 was a very long 1-0 win against April O’Neil, this was a hard-fought control vs control match, I dealt enough damage turn two to get her to half health but then it was a slog of a game until the very end of the time in overtime. I also played a pickup game versus Bakugo IV to get a 3rd game in with the deck since I got a bye, this was another rough aggro match up that I lost 2-1, Game 1 was a swift turn 2 loss, game 2 I was able to build out and defend well to sculpt the perfect line to end the game in my favor, in game 3, I wasn’t able to defend enough to survive Bakugo’s big swings.

While this deck was fun, if I were going to play Splinter again I think I’d go for some crazy all throw build using Colossus Titan Attacks to make multiple 10+ damage moves per turn. I don’t think it would fair any better against aggro characters but it would be FUN!

Here is the list from this week if you want to check it out!
