So, I won an LC, What’s Next?

Hi everyone! It's Siren and I finally got my invite!! Woohoo!! After a long year I have finally joined the cool kids club and gotten my invite at the Final Round LC #1 for Round 4. You can find the the decklist and tournament experience here. But now comes a weird question, what's next?

I realized I spent a lot of my year focused so heavily on my invite, struggling since season 1 to land on a deck I really enjoyed that was also strong enough to push me to the finish line. Now that I'm here, what's next? Well obviously Atlanta and Worlds(which I'm hoping can be my first major topcut maybe?) are up next on the competitive season but what about LCs? I mean I already have plans to attend.

That's what I want to talk about today! Hyperfocus and forgetting fun. I will be playing a fun, more silly deck at my next LC that I have left up to you! The community. What this means is my fate is entirely out of my control. Do I play Jacob Johnson with Devastate? A standard pumat deck? Mikasa 4 again just to get more reps? Who knows! But that's the fun part about it. I finally get to relax and enjoy this game I love so much. While yes Mikasa 4 is one of the best decks this format, I also just had a blast playing her. It took me back to when I first started playing and I had a really shitty toga 1 deck on evil. Just enjoying this game and not worrying too much about results.

That's what's next for me, just enjoying the game again. Not worrying about my performance and just getting to have fun with the game and chill. Results be damned I wanna have fun with this game again before getting prepped back up for competition. Will I still be playing my best? Absolutely! Will I be worried about my placing and taking losses hard? Not one bit, I'm just here to have fun after all.

This is kind of a short article and that's for a reason. I could tell you what I enjoy about Universus, why I'm playing something goofy, why I'm not caring about my results but that's not what's important. What's important is what you enjoy about Universus, do you enjoy playing broken decks and winning all the time? Go for it! Do you like playing janky weird brews just for fun? Do that too! Just remember that results will come with hard work, we're all capable of getting our invite or topcutting an event. We just have to work to make that happen and put in the effort. I'll catch y'all in Atlanta!
